These South Dakota guys are awesome, haven’t met an unfriendly 211th Soldier yet. Early in the morning as everyone was getting geared up and readying their vehicles they all gathering to pray. I thought that this was a great way to start any day, especially ones where you’re putting your life out on [...]
“A ‘Route Clearance’ Company conducts its own humanitarian mission.”
I traveled with these active duty guys out to a Afghan National Police (ANP) compound in the middle of a stunningly beautiful Afghan countryside. We stayed for the night and were told to expect mortar fire, and accurate fire at that. So I huddled up [...]
“Mortars are typically more of a nuisance than a danger, but in one case the enemy got in one lucky shot.”
This event actually occured as I was coming back in the Forward Operating Base (FOB) after a mission with the 1141st “Sapper” Company from Kansas City. As we neared the entrance we begin to [...]
“The 1141st “Sapper” Company is an integral part to the mission in Afghanistan. On a daily basis they must deal with the dirty job of clearing the roads of Improvised Explosive Devices.”
This was an introductory piece on the 1141st “Sapper” Company, a group I will be with many times this year with the hope [...]
“The Foward Support Company of the 203rd Engineer Battalion resupplies the Route Clearance Patrols in its Area of Operations. Its a tough job, full of risk, which most people don’t recognize.”
Now in Afghanistan with Missouri National Guard’s 203rd Engineer Battalion I’ve had the opportunity to begin creating PKGs for media release back in Missouri [...]

I shot this with my good friend Trey Hock in order to score two advance passes to the screening of Star Trek from www.scene-stealers.com. I was really just looking for an excuse to shoot something fun and easy. The piece is meant to mimic a portion of Star Trek Trailer 2 that can be seen [...]
This is a commercial for Rebekah Iliff and Ricky Quiles’ company, Boxers & Ballerinas based in Los Angeles. The company provides classes taught by professionals in both art forms for all ages. In addition to directing and shooting this myself I also created the theme music. Michael Stoecker was the crew. [...]
This is the second project I shot with the Red One last year. I’m still working cutting together the first project. It was commissioned by Alfa and was used in a web campaign.
Kevin Phillips was the director and Trey Hock the Producer, Production Designer, and Actor. Both these guys are so phenomenally talented. You’ll see [...]
This brilliant little short, inspired by Star Trek to get advanced screening passes from scene-stealers.com, was conceived by Trey Hock, the actor in this piece. I shot it on the HVX200 and assisted some with direction and editing. Ryan Brietenbach was the entire crew. Trey directed and edited it himself.

I shot this with some LA friends in Cleveland in between shoot days on a feature film. It was the day after Halloween hence the Wooderson costume and consequently the inspiration for the video.
Shot with: HVX200+M2 adapter+Nikons

This was a dramatic short shot in Cleveland in January of 2007. It was so cold there, so very cold. The location we were at was the same prison used in the Shawshank Redemption… and it was quite scary at night. Shot on Super 16mm Vision 2 stock with an Arri SRII and Zeiss Super [...]
This was a dramatic short shot while I was still at SCAD in 2006. It was the beginning of my relationship with the HVX200 and the M2 adapter with Nikon lenses. Something of note: Levie Isaacks, ASC (prof. at the time) came by on his bicycle and assisted us with the wind effect on the [...]
This is a short horror/suspense film I shot while at SCAD in rural Georgia. Produced by Barry Mottier. Directed by Joshua Gardner. Shot with the HVX200 and M2 adapter with Nikon glass.

This is a short video I put together for Hope Faith Ministries- a homeless outreach organization. They need to raise awareness and funds to sustain operations in 2009 and decided that a video would be best.
The people I’ve met there are some of the most wonderful people I know and I loved being apart of [...]

Out on mission we passed through the city that our FOB is named after. It was quite a bit bigger than you’d imagine especially since from the sounds of it, there is one guy who is essentially in charge and he basically decides whether the town is friendly towards US forces or not. He is said to be a very unassuming, but friendly character. In the city center, as the MRAPs rumbled through, we approached a fountain that had significant damage to one side. I was told that the destruction was caused by a suicide bomber who was trying to disrupt a convoy… consequently, without much success. The rest of the mission was fairly uneventful with the exception of the story you see above. The guys were all too happy to not see action that mission. I tell you, there is some incredible countryside here and coupled with the amazingly warm weather we’ve had I can see how this country was once a tourist hotspot.
